Meaningful change happens when people come together across borders, sectors, and perspectives to tackle complex challenges.

This belief drives what we do at Philanthropy Asia Alliance (PAA). In recent months, we formalised strategic partnerships with leading organisations in China and Indonesia, expanding our network and creating avenues for collective impact across the region.

Advancing collaborative philanthropy in China: PAA signs MOU with Tencent and Yili

On 6 September, PAA, alongside AVPN, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Tencent Sustainable Social Value (SSV) and Yili Group at the inaugural Corporate for Good Summit in Shenzhen, marking a shared commitment to advance collaborative philanthropy in China and across Asia.

The agreement establishes PAA as a strategic partner of the Sustainable Social Value Collaborative. Launched in May 2025 and co-chaired by Tencent, Yili, and Lenovo as its first rotating chairs, the Collaborative brings together 45 companies and social organisations to co-create shared value — leveraging the strengths of businesses and stakeholders to enhance China’s corporate philanthropy ecosystem and sustainable innovation landscape.

Under the MOU, PAA and its partners will support the growth of corporate philanthropy in Asia through knowledge exchange, co-hosted convenings, and joint initiatives that deliver tangible social impact across the region.

Deepening engagement in Indonesia: PAA partners with Pijar Foundation

On the sidelines of AsiaXchange 2025 in Jakarta, PAA formalised an MOU with Pijar Foundation on 8 October, opening new pathways into Indonesia’s philanthropic and sustainable innovation ecosystem.

This partnership combines Pijar Foundation’s deep local expertise with PAA’s regional network to turn shared goals into practical, scalable initiatives. The MOU aims to strengthen the collaborative philanthropy ecosystem across Indonesia and Asia, build connections and learning opportunities, and leverage both organisations’ networks and resources to maximise impact.

From partnership to impact

For our PAA community, these partnerships provide access to local expertise, on-the-ground knowledge, and diverse stakeholders across Asia. They create opportunities to co-develop initiatives and programmes that are locally relevant yet regionally scalable.

These MOUs also complement PAA’s ongoing strategic partnerships with AVPN, Asia Philanthropy Circle (APC), and the World Economic Forum (WEF). Together, these collaborations align efforts, share insights, and scale solutions to Asia’s most pressing challenges.
