Young talents play a strategic role in the success of national development. However, they face numerous challenges, including health risks and the disruption of future jobs. Collaboration between the government and youth is urgently needed to catalyze actions in developing young talents across various sectors—ranging from digital, arts and culture, sports, and social inclusion, to health and nutrition. These efforts must begin early in life to optimize the growth and development of future-ready youth.
Held at the Bina Graha Building in the Presidential Palace Complex, Indonesia Future Network (IFN) Future Talent brought together 24 young education leaders from diverse backgrounds to discuss breakthrough actions to ensure Indonesia fully leverages its demographic bonus. The event was opened by Chief of Presidential Staff, Moeldoko, who emphasized:
“The nation must always be present to nurture its brilliant young people. The world will change rapidly, full of risks, complexities, and surprises. We must act now, to pave the way toward Indonesia’s greatness in 2045.”
Woro Srihastuti Sulistyaningrum, Deputy for Coordination of Quality Improvement of Children, Women, and Youth at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK), added:
“Quality human resources must be nurtured from an early age. They are crucial for advancing the economy and improving the nation’s overall welfare.”
Cazadira F. Tamzil, Director of Public Policy at Pijar Foundation, stressed the importance of active youth involvement and cross-generational collaboration:
“Youth development must not treat young people merely as objects, but as partners. The government and the youth must work hand in hand across generations to make Indonesia more empowered, advanced, and inclusive.”
IFN is a collaboration between the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora), and the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas), in partnership with Pijar Foundation and Perkumpulan Warga Muda.
The IFN Future Talent event concluded with participants presenting their Collaborative Action Plan to the leadership of KSP, Kemenko PMK, and other stakeholders. The initiative is expected to serve as a starting point for more inclusive and sustainable youth talent development.
